Vermont I-89 Bridge Work – Week of September 4th, 2017

I-89 Night Closures between Exit 8-Montpelier and Exit 9-Middlesex  Monday thru Thursday, 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM Crews will be setting the structural steel at night for the new bridge over the travel lanes of I-89 for the month of September.  For the safety of motorists traveling on I-89, VTrans will close I-89 at night, one direction at a time, between Exit 8 – Montpelier and Exit 9 – Middlesex.  

Northbound I-89 will be closed between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM this week: – Tuesday, September 5th, 2018 – Thursday, September 7th, 2017  – Between Exit 8-Montpelier and Exit 9-Middlesex Alternate Route during closures During the northbound closure periods, motorists will exit the interstate in Montpelier at Exit 8 and follow US 2-West to Middlesex and access I-89 northbound at Exit 9.  US 2 will be marked with signs as an alternate route.   Two-way traffic will be maintained on US 2 with occasional interruptions to allow equipment to access the site.  

Day Work I-89 southbound and US 2 will be reduced to one-lane at the project site during daytime work hours.  Motorists can expect delays.  Northbound will have a shoulder closure only during daytime work hours.  

Traffic –Traffic delays can be expected this week on US 2 and I-89.

It is illegal in VT to use any handheld portable electronic devices while driving.
